Seeking advice from a dermatologist or a specialised healthcare professional can offer valuable insights and potential solutions. Understanding the reason behind your hair loss can influence your choices in managing it and moving forward. After my diagnoses of Androgenic Alopecia, I was able to move on and look at solutions to suit myself and my lifestyle. I trialled Minoxidil but it proved to be messy and time-consuming, and it also led to extensive inflammation on my scalp. I discontinued this product and opted to explore other solutions - at this time I did not even know that hair toppers existed!

Alopecia is divided into two distinct branches – Alopecia Areata and Androgenic Alopecia. Alopecia Areata appears as irregular hair loss patterns, defining it as a medical condition from an autoimmune response. Whilst Androgenic Alopecia (also known as female pattern hairloss) leads to the gradual shrinking of the small tube-like structures in your scalp, known as hair follicles. As follicles shrink, your hair becomes thinner and shorter, ultimately leading to a halt in their growth.
Alopecia Areata has two types: Totalis (complete scalp hair loss) and Universalis (complete hair loss on the scalp and all over the body). There are many other types of hair loss such as Telogen Effluvium and Anagen Effluvium and this underscores the importance of seeking professional help for an accurate diagnosis.
